Today and everyday you will be missed more than you ever realized. George, Sharon & Dee have been a part of my life since I was 6 yrs. old. I have very few childhood memories that don’t include them. My youngest memories with George are of him piercing my ears at the kitchen table with an ice cube, needle & a half of a potato. I think I was 6 or 7 and I was so excited, only George could have done this. I remember the odd site of seeing men cry for the first time as George & my father ground fresh picked horseradish on the front porch laughing at each other the whole time. The next few years George spent countless hours helping my father build our house. He gave his time freely and unselfishly as he did throughout his life.
My goodness the memories are flooding in as I try to write this. Good old Georgie, always trying to get me out of trouble. Like the day I swore when we were all in the woods getting wood for the winter. He told my mother I said a similar word to the one I used (that wouldn’t be considered a swear word) so I wouldn’t get my mouth washed out with soap. However me and my big mouth had to say “ No that’s not what I said, I said ?#%€¥ “ and I had to bite soap anyway. I am giggling now because I can remember at least a dozen or two more times he had tried to save me from a “butt whopping” but I didn’t have the sense to save myself! I also remember Turtle Soup, Galunki’s (spelling?) at y’all’ house ( I hated them) but George loved them. His pigeons in the back yard, the hand made beer hats they had in the 70’s, camping and he & dad being Cub/Boy Scout leaders. I swear they did that to get away from us girls for awhile. (Lol). One of my favorite memories were our picnics at Fair Haven.
When my father died the boys & I had to get back to NY from Georgia. I was so worried about my mother & sister being alone until I could get there. The next morning when I pulled in the yard I could see they were not alone. My parents house was filled with family & great friends. The first voices I heard were coming from the kitchen and it was Sharon & Dee cleaning up and making room in the frig. for the food coming in. I feared my mother would fall into depression after but she was blessed with absolutely amazing friends. Sharon insisted my mother meet her regularly to walk, exercise & talk. Both George & Sharon would drive to Hannibal & pick her up and take her to dinner. George became her “second husband” as he spent the next several years fixing and building things for her around her home.
Over 40 plus years our parents and families formed a friendship that would last a lifetime and can only be described as a true blessing. George, Sharon, Dee, Don & Jason are far more than friends they became part of our family! Our families have seen each other through family tragedies, sicknesses and death. Thank you George & Sharon for teaching myself, my sister and our children trust, loyalty, compassion, unconditional love and the true meaning of friendship through your life’s examples. Thank you Dee, for sharing your extraordinary parents and always being a great friend!
I will miss everything about you George!! I hope you and Dad are having a great day fishing!!
My love always, Killer
I love you Sharon, Dee, Don & Jason. My heart aches for you today.

I am so very sorry to learn of George's passing. No words can express my sadness for those family members left behind, but I will keep you in my prayers and pray that over time your grief and sadness lessens each day until one day you can leave it behind and remember only the happy times you spent with George.
