I have never known this man as anything other than "Papa". I was incredibly blessed to be a friend of the family growing up. I came from a broken extended family - and truly, spending time with Papa and Gramma was the coziest, most loving taste of family anyone could ever experience. Papa was ready to laugh and joke and share his time and conversation with anyone who wanted to - even a nerdy redheaded girl from around the corner. I had always mourned the lack of living grandparents in my life, but Papa and Gramma were the closest people to grandparents I'd ever have - and fortunately for me, they were the absolute best. I will always remember their hugs!

Dear Sheree and Vicki-so many wonderful memories of your Mom and Dad. They were like second parents to me as a teenager. They always made me feel welcome and your home was a home away from home. Praying God with comfort you and give you peace as you go through this time. With deepest sympathy,
Wanda Kitts

Sheree, Vicki, and to all of Don’s beautiful family, I will always treasure my memories of my times with Don and Rene, especially class reunion times. Don and Rene were always so full of life and love. and so so proud of their ever expanding Family. I am so glad he finally got to spend that quality time with his London Ontario family, if but cut short. He had talked of nothing else for more than a year of the more than two years of the pandemic keeping you all apart. He loved you all so so much. Carry on. LIVE, LOVE. LAUGH. And care for others, each other, and yourselves too! —barbara Burton Bartholomew , Don’s church buddy and lifelong friend of Rene and Don.

It was a pleasure to have worked and known Don while employed at Nestle Foods. Don was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from him, he sure was the light and pillar of his surroundings.

Uncle Don was the best. Whenever anyone needed anything, Aunt Rene would say "Don't worry, Don will do it." And he always did... with a smile. Condolences to his whole family and to his many good friends.

My Papa, my father figure growing up as young girl. You and Grams were our home away from home. We have many many memories with the two of you that I will cherish for my lifetime. The memories are what keep you alive in me forever. You have left a mark for many and will never be forgotten. Thank you for being our Papa! Cheers forever and always xoxo
