Obituary of Rene D. Ormsby

Rene D. Ormsby, 61, of Fulton, passed away peacefully at her home on January 9, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born March 16, 1963 in Fulton to Robert and Phronsie Bristol and was a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School, class of 1981. Rene earned her Masters degree in Education from S.U.N.Y. Oswego and was employed as a special education teacher with the Fulton School District before accepting a position with the Oswego County Department of Social Services. Rene retired in 2022 as a supervisor with Child Protective Services. She was a member of the Fulton Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #830, past secretary and chaplain. She was named “Elk of the Year” in 2019-2020 and donated her time to several charities sponsored by the Elks. Rene enjoyed gardening and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Rene had a passion for seeing children happy and dedicated many hours to the children’s Christmas party sponsored by the Elks. Rene is survived by her husband of 44 years, David M. Ormsby; her son, Steven (Vanessa Fuller) Ormsby; her mother, Phronsie Bristol; her sister, Dawn Bristol and by her grandchildren, Aubrielle, Arabella and Yukon. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Curtis Bristol and by her brother, Robert T. Bristol. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025 with memorial services to follow at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton.
