Gary Lee Blasczienski of Fulton, New York passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024 at the age of 75. Gary spent most of his life in Fulton and was a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School, Class of 1966. He was a member of Local 214 and 663 Laborer’s Union for more than 20 years until his retirement. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served three years in the Army from 1968 to 1970. His duty assignments included Fort Dix, New Jersey and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During his time in Vietnam (1969-1970), he proudly served as a member of the 199th (Redcatchers) Light Infantry Brigade. Upon the completion of his tour, he received an Honorable Discharge. Gary had many different hobbies and activities he enjoyed throughout his life. He always enjoyed his crossword puzzles and games of cribbage with his family, friends and coworkers. Camping with his wife of 54 years Adele (Ives) Blasczienski was his favorite form of relaxation. He enjoyed summers in their camper and looked forward to the times when their grandchildren could join them. Softball was a mainstay activity for him for years, which he enjoyed with his brothers Michael and Kevin. Later in life, Gary joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 569 of Fulton, New York where he served as an Officer. Friends and family understood that he was always going to stand up for what he believed in and would usually do it bluntly and to the point. His sense of humor that was almost always laced with sarcasm was well known amongst family, coworkers, teammates and strangers alike. Gary is survived by his wife Adele; sons, Gary (Jessica) and Thomas (Jodi) along with his grandchildren Madisyn, Wyatt, Aliana, and Thomas. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Michael and Kevin, and his sister, Kelly as well as several nieces and nephews.
