Obituary of James B. Shutts, Sr.
James B. “Jim” Shutts, Sr., 85, of Fulton passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born July 7, 1939 in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada to Bernard and Mabel Shutts. In 1957, Jim enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and was Honorably Discharged in 1961. He retired from P&C Foods where he was employed as a truck driver for several years and then continued to drive for DCA Express in Fulton for two years. Jim enjoyed driving his 18-wheeler and upon his retirement he continued to travel with his wife Barbara. They would spend the winters in Florida, enjoyed camping during the summer at Constantia Cove and North Pole, New York, going out to dinner and visiting casinos.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara; his daughters, Jennifer (John) Shutts-LeBlanc and Barbie King; his sons, Merle Whipple and William (Erin) Cole; his sisters, Marlene (Larry) Sutcliffe and Pamela (Chuck) Gilbert; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sons, James Joseph Shutts, James Shutts, Jr. and Mark Cole; by his brother, John Shutts and by his granddaughter, Taylor Whipple.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton. Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home prior to the services. Condolences for the Shutts family may be left at www.brownfuneralhomefulton.com.
